How big does a chinchilla cage have to be?
I might be getting 2 chinchillas soon and i was wondering how big a chinchilla cage has to be in order for them to be comfortable and still have enough room.
Chinchillas’ cages should be at least 3ft by 3ft by 3ft. Larger if you can find/afford one. Make sure that the cage you buy has solid floors and not the wire or mesh ones. Wire is ok for the walls and roof, but the floor must be solid so it does not hurt their feet. Also make sure the cage has places to hide and different levels so they can jump, climb and move around. There shouldn’t be plastic in the cage because it can be toxic to them.
